LOS ANGELES (AP) - Responding for the first time to the firestorm that erupted over the lack of diversity in this year's Oscar nominations, film academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs says the all-white acting slate inspires her to accelerate the academy's push for more diversity.
The first black president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences spoke out Friday night in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press about the Oscar nominations and the widespread criticism that followed.
All 20 of this year's acting contenders are white and there are no women in the directing or writing categories. After the nominations were announced, the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite started trending on Twitter.
Boone Isaacs said the academy is "committed to seeking out diversity of voice and opinion" and that outreach to women and artists of color is now a major focus.
"In the last two years, we've made greater strides than we ever have in the past toward becoming a more diverse and inclusive organization through admitting new members and more inclusive classes of members," Boone Isaacs said. "And, personally, I would love to see and look forward to see a greater cultural diversity among all our nominees in all of our categories."

So from here on in they won’t judge by the quality of the film or the acting but by making sure every group is fairly represented.
They might as well just cancel The Oscars-—they will be meaningless.

So, she is admitting that the Academy is racist ... but they’re working real hard on it.
“What does it take to start this race war so we can get it over with...”
It’s already begun, but whites haven’t started fighting back yet.
And when they do, they should destroy not just obama-loving blacks, but they gotta destroy white libs as well.
Cheryl needs to remember those awards her org gives out represent excellence, supposedly. To try and make them about anything else, especially affirmative action is to lower and pervert them into further irrelevance. As an old meme once said, "Don't go there!"
Adding one more thing to the list of “Not what you do but what your color is doing it....”
That's right, Hollywood - you need to celebrate and make awards to some black actors - even though they can't act worth a darn - because they're black!
Let's see how well Hollywood does the "token" thing.
After all - it's how we got our White House occupant.
