In the 9 years since we left Polk County, Lakeland has continued to get worse. A nice small city in 1979. A compost heap now, IMO. Crime is terrible, the Lakeland police are worthless, the same clowns for the last 25 years rotating between city council, county commission, mayor and city manager. Musical chairs with the same players for decades. No wonder nothing changes. One big, never ending circle jerk.
Hope these guys enjoy their brief stay in my hometown before they get sent to state pen. I know what you mean. I remember nothing but Orange groves and Stewart cattle ranches between Bartow and Lakeland on hwy 98, with a don’t blink or you’ll miss it thru Highland City in between. Now its almost all connected with business and development to Tampa, and has that big city crime following it
