Since this is a political forum, let’s use a political analogy. Say a Democrat candidate stuffed the ballot box to ensure victory. As it turns out, he had enough votes to legitimately win. Should he still get to hold office?
In your scenario, a Democrat would say that the cheating didn’t matter, so he should hold the office. A Republican would say that cheating was wrong, but in the spirit of bipartisanship, he should hold the office. A conservative would say that he should be indicted, tried for fraud, and a new election held.
