I don’t mind Command & Conquer type games either but its a totally different part of the brain being used
War thunder’s the bomb.... My adult son turned me on to it. We have a pretty bad ass squadron with a few other friends where we can talk as we play. It’s really fun!

I played command and conquer back in the day. I also liked Jagged Alliance, fallout-3 and New Vegas. I’m currently almost finished with wasteland-2

Been playin' it since 2009. IIRC, I may have tried it earlier than that, but passed.
This game is almost as flexible as real life. You can be an accountant, or a pirate, or a CEO. Or anything else.
Everyone who may be curious, follow that link to "This is EVE" or watch it on YouTube. Very well worth it.
That said, the game will only appeal to < 10% of people, it's got so much detail 90% will see it as overly complicated and hate it, and the rest of us will revel in the beauty and complexity of it all.
You can play it for years and no learn everything. Again, it's like real life. Hell of a learning cliff in this game!
Lastly, this game does nothing to constrict or channel your options--it allows HUMAN NATURE to be what it is. It's the wild, wild west in most places. That said, you *will* find many who will help you if they see you need it.
Lot of (ruthless) good people there.

I'm in Flying Dangerous; we just moved from Syndicate to Catch. Things were too quiet in Syndicate. Plenty of action in Catch. Maybe even too much!
Between Provibloc and Pandemic Legion, plus the small alliances and corps, we've got plenty of "gudfites" almost constantly.

I play a lot. But then I’ve been playing real golf since I was 8.
Another really good one to try is Hearthstone. It’s really worth a look if you haven’t tried it yet. I’ve been playing that for quite a while now.
I used to play Darkspace, back 10 years ago. Never transitioned to EVE. I have no time for games anymore anyway... so it seems.
I played BF, 2, and still play 3. Haven’t made the switch to 4, don’t know that my graphics card would be up to the task.
I played Strike at Kark on 2, and enjoy Metro on 3. Don’t much care for the vehicles and such, and really enjoy the non-explosive servers.

I am going to try War Thunder. Maybe if I like it we can join forces. A Freeper brigade maybe?
My favorite game. pre-Internet, was Mech Brigade, would really like to find something like that.
The EVE universe is also informed and enhanced by a deep and compelling backstory. For those who are not familiar, this trailer gives a short intro to the origins of the EVE universe. Do watch it in HD. And that gives only the barest hint of what awaits the new EVE player.
