I never did hear that term, but yes, there is a twinge of “Interior Decoration” in those stores. So yes, that does make sense.
It’s not that Home Depot is gay, it’s that gay guys love to renovate houses and flip them. Sometimes they even live in the houses they renovate! That’s where the nickname came from.
