Someone needs to do a study on the undeniable phenomenon in which on come serve inclement weather triggers an insatiable desire for French Toast.

I think it has to do with back in the 40s, 50s, 60s, there was an actual block of ice in your fridge. And you or your neighbors had chickens/eggs. So without electricity, you could make mass french-toast with the milk in your icebox which hadn’t melted yet. I think Hurricanes were the main cause of power outage when this menu was decided.

And it just stuck.

Back in the 20s and 30s you didn’t need to run to the store for milk and eggs because a storm was coming.

But you did need to have a supply of hay for the cow and feed for the chickens.
