Maybe someday you will. Maybe some are already recorded somewhere. Many Hungarian Jews were gassed at Auschwitz and were transported closer to the end of the war. The millions who were murdered most we will never know their names.

Of the survivors, there is a slideshow at ABC featuring survivors, all late eighties or early nineties. I meant to add somewhere that many transports were immediately gassed at Auschwitz but so many had been through a series of the camps.

I did read somewhere that all the extermination camps were located in occupied Poland. There were six with gas chambers. The deniers will say there were none. If they are wrong, and I firmly believe they are, there must be a special punishment waiting for that kind of lie; how evil to obliterate the suffering, torture, and hideous manner of death of millions, and not just Jews.

As to research, it is a daunting task. There is nothing like it in my family history (no known Jewish roots for generations). Anyway, Hungary is hard to research, knew a Hungarian genealogist (non-Jew).

Well, you could try praying for those you think perished and watch for some answer. Some rabbis are reputed to have extraordinary gifts. Maybe God will lead you to one. I was never aware of some of their gifts. Many believe their departed family members are watching over them.

Very occasionally, some are thought to have perished but escaped instead. Let us hope you will be led to other survivors of that line in your family. If they have remained faithful Jews, they could have a lot of information to impart to you. They are scrupulous about maintaining oral tradition of their family history.

In any case, we don't know what lies in the great beyond. Sooner or later you may find out. In the meantime, I wish you well, and thank you for sharing on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Wow yeah any survivors left are so old now that in another 10 years there will be none left. That’s sad to me somehow.

Hungary has been very hard to try and research, plus that area has had a few territory/name changes in the past.
