Think about it this way. If a company can build that kind of huge facility, and be energy-independent (i.e., producing their own energy) still make money at what their business is ... AND ... pump energy back into the grid on top of all that ... I would say that’s PRETTY AMAZING!

What is going to be commanded at the Global Command Center? Seems rather nebulous to me.

You bet! That’s really AMAZING what Apple is doing and I’m proud of them showing the way for other companies to do the same thing! They are energy independent (that makes the facility more secure) ... AND ... they actually pump energy back into the grid, on top of what they use!

I like the idea of Solar Power ... and why not?! The sun is a HUGE SOURCE of energy. Good for Apple in doing this!

Yep, guilt by association ... but heck! I would like to get my house energy independent like that, too ... and be able to pump energy back onto the grid on top of it.

Pretty amazing. Especially if they’re not doing it with special tax credits or government subsidies or trying to push the global warming hoax.

Yeah, you nailed it. That’s it exactly. In my LED bulb example, people are pissed about the GOP idiot who began the process of banning incandescents, and rightly so. That doesn’t make LED bulbs a bad technology, but the technology and the political action are inseparable with some people.

I also don’t understand the “they shouldn’t use tax credits” argument. Under that logic make sure you fill out your taxes without a mortgage interest deduction. Make sure you fund your 401k with after tax not pre-tax dollars. Don’t take the property tax deduction. That’s just silly...

A 2 billion investment for 150 jobs. Full employment is over. And yes, there will be some spin off)

There are massive subsidies, also, this plant was closed by an Apple supplier last year.

It all points to a significant lack of analytic ability by many people. I shudder to think this, but maybe there’s not a huge difference between most conservatives and “LIVs”...

Sure because, they’re getting so much free money... That $2B they’re pouring into it, isn’t really theirs. They didn’t earn that, or build those billion devices/widgets or whatever either.

We’re not talking Solandra here, or any of the other Barry sponsored recipients of the so-called ”stimulus” money. Agree with the premis or not, those “incentives” exist, for any and everyone willing and able to take advantage of them.

The Solandras actually got cold hard cash from us and then promptly went out of business.

And, regardless of what some of the pundents would have you believe; I’m not seeing Apple going out of business anytime soon.

Now, all that cash Apple is sitting on, overseas; they would really like to bring it back home and put it to work. But no, the collective heads in DC - ON BOTH SIDES - are stuck so far up their greedy little @$$es, that they’d rather see it remain sitting overseas than to have it repatriated and brought back here and put to work. So much so, that Apple, a company with some $180B in cash, took out a loan to build their new HQ. A company that is now going to issue $5B in BONDS for stock buybacks and other purposes.

Why!?

Because it’s cheaper!

Why!?

Because our so-called representatives are morons!

Too bad the saphire screens didn’t work out, I wonder if the concept will ever be workable?

Thanks!
