Looks like a repo though....or the gang that couldn't shoot straight...hence the directions.
I live in Maine, and I visit that store a couple of times a week.
All kinds of interesting items pass through. I’ve bought books, videos, DVDs, cameras, vintage framed items, all kinds of neat stuff.
The hollowed-out book had what looked like an antique firearm inside it. As others have said on this thread, it may be a reproduction.
This story was on the evening newscast broadcast from a CBS affiliate in Bangor, ME the other night.
The woman police detective said the firearm may be Italian, and there are no serial numbers, so it might be hard to find the original owner, according to the detective.
On another note, since January 24th, Ellsworth, ME received 5 feet, 8 inches of snow from five different storms, along with sub-zero temperatures at night. This global warming is rough.
I know a guy who bought an old 8-track cassette in a Salvation Army store in Bangor, ME. He found $80 inside.
Another guy I know of purchased a bunch of books at a yard sale north of Bangor some years ago. When he got home, he found $400 inside the books.
I believe Hobby Lobby sells similar hollowed out books.
I recall that one of the reproduction arms companies in the 1970s made a firearm like this that was sold in a book casing. . . I am pretty sure this is one of those. Possibly Navy Arms? If I recall correctly the binding had faux leather and a title something like “Arms and the Man” or equally cutesy. . . There were several models available.
Stupid democrat employee!
There were no pages at all, just simply a hollow box, nestling the gun. A sticker said it was built by a gun-box seller in Arkansas.
Police are trying to figure out who owned the gun, but have little to go on. They ran the pistol’s serial number through a national database, but got no hits, the paper said.
but...but....he has such an honest face!
Hmmmm....interesting.
The detective said the other night on TV there was no serial number.
I guess they found one after all.
Where I grew up in western NY. There was a little corner store that had been there for a hundred years. He had a safe behind the counter. However, he could not lock the safe. So, he kept the cash in Coffee Can on the shelf at night right there with all the other coffee cans. Kind of like hiding in plain site.
The is a CVA replica in new unfired condition. A new one coast about 50 bucks. It’s black powder , not even considered a firearm.
