This was posted here yesterday from an artcle posted in a West coast website. This article from up the road actually has less information.

The “book” was not directly donated to the Ellsworth store, but came from a central repository of donated items (located in Portland, Maine). The “book” is actually a book safe. The gun appears to be a replica that amy not even work. Much is being made of this non story.

It plays upon most people’s desire to get something for nothing. Found money, the Corvette in the barn, etc. Harmless fantasy. Looking might even pay off once in a blue moon.
