Maybe this is the difference between women and men: I would have shown the kid how to tie a tie, but expected him do it himself.
Yes, I'd have done the same if the interview was days in the future BUT in this case it was mere hours. Think back to your young days, did the ends look good ALWAYS? This is practicality - offering good service to a customer in need! KUDOs to these employees!
What are you talking about?
The female Target employee asked a male colleague to help the kid out, and the male colleague did so by tying the tie. The last thing a kid needs on his way to an interview is to stress out over a lesson in tie tying, and the female employee did exactly the right thing.
And, if you wouldn’t hire some black teen applying for a fast-food job because he had a clip-on tie, I feel sorry for you. The kid obviously didn’t have a father at home who had made sure he had a tie he knew how to tie, but he did the right thing by trying to go buy one he could handle himself before his interview.
Jeesh!
“Maybe this is the difference between women and men: I would have shown the kid how to tie a tie, but expected him do it himself.”
The women didn’t know how to tie a tie.
The man tied the tie.
