This storm could be catastrophic to the Boston area.

One of the things that makes it worse in Boston is the 50 by 100 foot property lots.

When you get windy snow a lot of it blows off the roofs onto the ground and street, and you actually have more snow on the ground that has fallen in the storm.

This is tough on the streets where cars are parked and snowplows can't clear the snow properly.
With small lots most cars are parked on the streets, since they don't all have driveways. - Tom

"I’m in Upstate NY. This has been the most miserable winter I can recall in a long time."

I agree. I'm in Rome, NY. We've had snow every day with single digit, or below zero temps overnight. The North Country has had more snow than us though. They've got wind chill warnings ( -10 to -30) for us from tonight until 4 p.m. tomorrow.

My sister-in-law just came to DC for a funeral, from Maine to catch a train in Boston. She was able to ski on the tops of cars all the way down Route 1 to Beantown. Saved a lot of money on transportation and snow shovels.

They shouldn’t call the new storm a “blizzard” any more. It should be called a “Vulture’s Delight” (Democrats only).

On the bright side, we now have no one at the top running the MBTA.

I think it will be an improvement.

I grew up in one of the three decker neighborhoods in Boston.

It was an absolute nightmare during snowy winters———and that was years ago. It’s twice as bad now.

My place is 1776 and has seen a few storms I suppose and its an old cape with a decent pitch and no gutters is a big help.Good luck

There are houses in my area built in the 1700s and 1800s and the roof pitch is much steeper than the modern houses.-Tom

So far this winter the eastern half of the Gay State (Massachusetts) has gotten over six feet of global warming. And most February and all of March are still to come.

But on the plus side algore is *still* a billionaire thanks to his scam.

Every winter we are in a geographic position to be hit every 4-5 days all winter long by a snowstorm.

We get hit then miss one or two get hit again etc.
But this winter we haven't missed many potential snowstorms.

Look for another potential hit around Thurs or Friday of next week. -Tom

Back in 1993 I was stationed at Griffiss AFB outside Rome, New York. Saint Patrick’s Day weekend that year was memorable. The commander called everyone together because the based had been placed on the DoD’s list of bases for realignment and/or closure. The commander ended by telling us to go directly home because there was a violent snow storm headed our way. We left the base 59 minutes early.

It stared snowing around 1600 (4 p.m. for you twelve hour clock guys) and snowed steadily until 0200 (2 a.m.) on Sunday, March 19. We received 55 inches of snow in that one storm. We plowed and shoveled our way out on Sunday. The base was open for normal duty hours on Monday.

The only conclusion I can come to about the people in Massachusetts is that they are wusses.

Awful weather. Prayers for my New England/New York Freeper friends.

We haven't had that much snow, but the cold has been relentless. We're expecting up to -30 wind chills this weekend.

And you are telling me that you and your air force buddies shoveled your 51 inches without bitching about it once?

You worked in a difference air force than I’ve ever seen. Or you are an officer.

One of the things that makes it worse in Boston is the 50 by 100 foot property lots inept new Mayor who didn't adequately clear the snow from the first storm.

Agreed, not only does the snow blow off the roofs, but the plows pile it up where you need to park, and the lawns are full of snow from the front porches. So after you dig out your spot you have to find some old kitchen chair, or some other piece of junk to claim you spot with.

But on our street somebody always shoveled all of the walks around the house full of retired nuns. You had to get up at dawn if you wanted to be a part of that process - their sidewalk was cleared by 7 AM.

All they are saying for my part of SonofFormerEmperor Cuomo's fiefdom is 'very windy - wind chill advisory in effect'. Looks like Trisham will need to shovel her deck off again though...

Maybe God is trying to tell the voter majority that voted for Indian Princess and who believe in glowbullwarmthing that their politics suks and the science is far from settled... If so, I doubt that they will pay any attention. (Marginal thinking included for Yeti watchers.)

Is the inept new mayor any more inept than the inept old mayor?

Stay safe you guys! My thoughts and prayers.

Might be a good idea to line-up a service to clear the roof snow for you B4 the storm hits! Don’t even try to do it yourself!

I also grew up in a three decker in Boston, in the Dorchester section.
Savin Hill to be exact.

It is worse now in Boston because then there were so few cars around until well after WWII!
Now every adult seems to have a car.-Tom

That's a tough call, but even if the streets were clogged with snow Mumbles made you think it was OK. Which is better than what is happening now. And even though its not 100% his fault, what's with the T shutdown???
