I liked the follow-up to "Cherish." This didn't make any "oldies" playlists, so after its chart run, I never heard it again until the Internet came along. When I hear it, it still reminds me of rainy days in the late fall of 1966, when I would listen to Boss Radio 93 KHJ on my portable transistor radio.

Panora's Golden Heebie Jeebies--The Association (1966)

Every Baby Boomer who grew up in Southern California during the 1950's in a home with a TV set ought to be familiar with this tune.

The Birthday Cake Polka--"Sheriff John" Rovick (1953)

I talked my mom into buying this album for me when I was 7. I wore the grooves off it and it was the sound track to my second grade.

At age 55, I still listen to it and enjoy it immensely.

Music went to crap when the Beatles landed.

Funny how a slight difference in age can change ones' perception of art.

I was ten years old when the Beatles first came to America. Their music was the soundtrack of my adolescence, and changed the world for myself and my peers.

Okay, the rules are a song that you remember from when you were young and still like today. I remember Rock Around the Clock when it came out, but the first song I really liked (and still like today) was Bill Haley's Shake Rattle and Roll.

The only other song I still like today was Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66 doing Mas Que Nada. I still can't hear that song too often. Although I like this version too Nossa!.

On the vinyl pressing next to the label (like, pressed into the surface of the record) I recall one side saying (handwritten from the master, I suppose) "Polka 'til ya puke!"

The other side said "Eat your broccoli".

“Tie me kangaroo down, sport”

I remember that tune. I must have been 8 or 9 at the time. Good memories.

Creedence Clearwater Revival, Charlie Rich, “The Tiki Room” song by Disney, all the Jungle Book by Disney songs, “Pure Love” by Ronnie Milsap, a whole bunch of other country songs that played from the 1960s to 1970s and a good mixture of Cajun ballads. Those were good times, peaceful times on the riverbank where the whole family sat around the campfire and enjoyed fresh fried catfish and hushpuppies and listened to stories of alligators bigger than the 18-foot flat-bottom boat we ran trotlines in.

I can’t believe I’m going to be 40 next year. YIKES!

Geeez.....yer just a kid.

I'll be 62 this year, and I can tell you one thing. You've got nothing to be skeered of. Life is still most excellent!

damn, as someone who listens to VH, Ratt, GnR, Megadeth.... Rise brings back some great memories. What a great song.

Loved listening to my parents LP Whipped Cream and Honey early 70s.

Cherish, by The Association

One of my all time favorite recordings. I used to drift off into some sort of dreamland when I'd hear that as a kid. Beautiful song.

How could I forget to mention Miles Davis In A Silent Way. I bought it in 1969 and still enjoy it forty-five years later.

what a great call and great memory too. Late 70s I watched TWIB every Saturday. My White Sox sucked, but baseball was great.

It’s threads like this that make me realize how young I am (pushin’ 60 with a short stick)

I'm pushing 62, but threads like these sometimes make me feel like a pimply faced kid. Sheesh....I can't even remember hearing Gene Autry on the radio.
