I also love Simon and Garfunkel as well as Buddy Holly. My parents grew up in the 50s, so that’s what we listened to as kids. We also listened to Jim Croce and I still love his music. Oh...and Don McLean. I realize I didn’t list any songs, but I love everything these guys performed. John Denver, too....I could go on and on.....

O Tannenbaum - the German orginal - is a tribute to the Tanne - the immortal fir tree beloved by German poets, singers and composers down through the centuries:
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein, auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blätter!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat nicht zur Weihnachtszeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

I have to add one of the greatest instrumental compositions of modern times:
Gathering Crowds (This Week in Baseball)
One of my greatest memories as a kid was watching "This Week in Baseball" every weekend. I still get chills when I hear this song.

Though not from my childhood but my children's...we used to love listening to
Robin in The Rain by Raffi. It always brings a smile and good memories when I hear it. A catchy little ditty.
