The amount of debt that the USA already has accrued is not survivable

What do you mean, "not survivable"?

Paper money systems die all the time, it's rare for nations to die with them. I presume all the debt is going to be renounced (what else would you do with $18T in debt), and that we will start over.

The loss of all those Reichsmarks in 1945 didn't stop Germany from being on top again, I assume the destruction of all dollar-denominated investments will work out the same.

When “all those Reichsmarks” get replaced by US dollars via the Marshall Plan, then it isn’t too hard to recover. Add to that all the aid from being on the front lines of the Cold War (thanks to the liberals, all spent in vain) and one can see where the so-called Wirtschaftwunder gets its legs from. I certainly do not want to see any presumption on anyone’s part that the USA ought to follow that path, and nobody is going to help the USA the way the USA helped everyone else.
