Just keep up the gardens and the good political fight.

Everything else is going to be up to me and the doctors.

I actually printed out a bunch of stuff from FR for the first time in ages, just so I can carry it around and remind me of my obligation and how much freepers care. I'll need that at times.

It has been a privilege to read your posts over the years. Know that you are and have been an inspiration to many FRiends on this forum.

I’ll be lifting you up in my prayers, Johnny.

I’m planting some fingerlings, some large potatoes went into the ground a day after valentines day. Planting more collards. Today we’re covering all of our plants with heavy straw. We’re in for some pretty cool weather and some sleet on Sunday or Monday. Sometimes towns around us get heavy weather, but I keep saying our little town is in a dip, and the nasty weather misses us, maybe it will again.

They’ve revised our forecast for Tuesday to 39/33 but we are usually a wee bit warmer than the forecast, think we’ll be okay. The peaches are the crap shoot this time of year and wow, are mine loaded with blossoms.

Actually several. One is called German giant. They will produce 2.50 to 3 pound tomatoes. They are meaty with very few seeds with Great flavor. one called Flamingo which is one of the best tasting,1 t0 1.5 pounds or a little smaller. Omar's Lebanese these come from? you guessed it Lebanon, also great tasting. These are red/pink tomatoes.

Then I also started two yellow ones. Yellow Brandywine which taste better than the Pink Brandywine. Finally Dr. Wyche's which is a fantastic tasting large yellow that weighs 2 pounds plus.

Last official frost date is May 15th. I usually start sooner if I can get out into the garden. I plant almost all of my tomatoes in double 5 gallon buckets. That way I can put them out early. If there is a chance of frost I can bring them in.

Artichokes went in the ground today as well as Mammoth Jalapenos. Already have spinach and lettuce planted. Not going to matter much since if past years are any indication of my talents at this, the only veggies I will see are at HEB.

I may well be around for harvest season this year.

**********************************

You have my prayers. Saw this and thought about you ......

“People who found something to live and die for always live in the hope of success. They never allow doubts to create distances between them and their harvest time ...... ” ― Israelmore Ayivor

And one more, that I have found most relevant in the last year ....

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Part two of the seed starting article from Eric’s local newspaper:

http://www.thelaketoday.com/news/2015/feb/18/how-start-seeds-part-2-ready-start-seeds/

It’s been a busy week here in Central Missouri. We got a good bit of snow a few days ago. Nanner and I plowed out four of the neighbor’s driveways and the county road out to where it hits pavement. Had Dr. appt in St. Louis yesterday and today is Mrs. Augie’s birthday. We went to town this morning and picked up a few things from the garden center at Lowe’s.

After we got home I loaded up a bunch of jiffy pots with Miracle Grow potting mix. Sowed seven varieties of basil and bunch of green salad.

I’m hoping tomorrow will be dry and warm so I can paint the south side of the potting shed. That has to be done before I can set up the new cold frame.

I’ll have time to rest when I’m dead...

It sounds like we should plant for 2 zones colder than where we are now ..

The ducks and chickens are doing well, but not enjoying the snow and cold. We will be adding a number of Black Copper Marans this May.

Wow.

Look, everyone knows there is a time to check out, but you’re still young and full of piss and vinegar.

I will ask the Lord more time for you.

If you can, please keep us posted.

G-d bless you.

I knew I was missing someone, and it was you. I have freepmailed all the old folks from ATRW that I could remember. Except you. Blame it on brain injury. I gots an excuse now. ;)

You are one of my favorites, and I did want you to know what was going on.

I am young, and I'm trying to make it past 53 years old. I have stuff to do.

I've got my art stuff, and bought new stuff to replace the old crap that doesn't work anymore.

If attitude will help, I've got 'tude in spades.

I'll try to keep you guys informed. Thanks for your blessing. It matters to me.

/johnny
