I don’t get it...why would anybody want a driverless car? I don’t get the hype. I used to be escorted around in a limo...for me a driverless car. I hated it, I often wanted to ask the driver to sit in back and let me take the wheel.

I, for one, would welcome the advent of a truly driverless automobile.

Then, maybe, I'd finally have a reason to purchase an automobile. (Up until now, my biggest reason for not purchasing one is that - after all - I don't even have a driver's license.)

Then, I could continue sipping coffee and reading my newspaper while travelling to and from work.

And yet: The train I take is so convenient, maybe it would still be better (read: cheaper) to rely on public transportation.

As for the two or three other trips I make each month (besides commuting to work) - well, a (driverless) car might shave off max. 30 minutes of transit time, but I'm still not sure that it would be worth the expense of purchasing a vehicle.

In short: I don't get it... Why would anyone want to drive a car? I mean: Don't they have better things to do with their time than stare at the road and keep an eye out for road signs, potholes, wandering wildlife, other vehicles, etc.? Instead, they could enjoy the scenery or - in less-attractive environments - do the Times crossword puzzle, compose Haiku poems, catch 40 winks, or even log on to "Free Republic."

Regards,
