Did you seriously think AS was going to win? It was not on anyone’s list of films that had a chance. And the people picking the presenters have no idea what will win.

American Sniper grossed 304 million. Birdman grossed 36 million. AS won the popular vote.
Well I was hoping that maybe just maybe American Sniper would win, even though the odds were against them..I thought maybe their chances improved when they did win that one award tonight(I forgot for what category)
