Joan Rivers Fans Furious Over Oscars' In Memoriam Snub

Viewers of Sunday night's Academy Awards ceremony weren't laughing when the In Memoriam tribute left out legendary comedian Joan Rivers.

Rivers, whose film credits include "Spaceballs," "Rabbit Test," and the documentary "A Piece of Work," passed away Sept. 4, but she wasn't included in the annual tribute to those Hollywood has lost in the previous year. This year's montage honored actor Robin Williams, actress Lauren Bacall, and director Mike Nichols, among others.

Entertainment journalists and fans spoke up on Rivers' behalf on Twitter, with many mocking the Academy's decision to recognize a marketing executive in the process.

Harold Ramis got snubbed too...

Thnks for that info.

To show background people, as they did, and not someone like Harold, or Joan who were Hollywood personalities, in movies or not, points out the double standard of “ the club”

Glen Campbell fans are upset as well. Row, Row, Row Your Boat could have been the nominated song from Selma and it would have won the award.

Forget the politics of it for a moment, she did a lot for the show itself, on the red carpet. Also acted in a few films, and appeared as herself in documentaries. The only reason to snub her considering who else they cover is stupidity or politics.

According to IMDB, Joan Rivers was in at least 36 feature films.

Last night was a prime example of why the Oscars have no meaning and the show is dead to me. It was an “in your face” affront to decent Americans and a showcase for liberals and progressives. It all started with a Gay host followed by political messages. Despite viewing selected movies, I will now be canceling my premium channels and look for a provider other than Comcast.

Considering Harold Ramis wrote and/or directed “Animal House,” “Ghostbusters,” “Caddyshack,” “Back to School,” “Groundhog Day” and many more, that was a HUGE snub.

I think the producers of the Academy Awards snubbed Rivers because I don't think she was ever a member of AMPAS. Sure, Rivers did a lot to publicize the Red Carpet scene at the Oscars, but that's totally different than being an Academy member who recently passed away.

The snubbing of Ramis was the biggest surprise, at least IMO. Joan Rivers had very skimpy movie credentials, so that gave the academy a reason to omit her. On the other hand, Ramis wrote, directed or acted in some of the biggest film comedies over the past 35 years, including Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day. As far as I know, he had the “right” liberal credentials. Obviously he pissed someone off in the “film community.”

What about Harold Ramis?
He was an actor and director.
Now, the only connection that I can see between the two, off the top of my head, is they were both Jewish....

Joan Rivers was a very successful stand up comic when there were few women doing that, had a long run as a TV talk show host and guest personality, and towards the end of her life her unabashedly surgically enhanced face was continually popping up in odd places on TV to comment on just about everything under the sun. She was also a fiercely proud Jew who was willing to sharply skewer political correctness and anti-Semitism whenever they would slime crawl up in the disguise of sympathy for the “Palestinian People”. But she was never anything in the film industry and why people would be offended that she wasn’t memorialized during the Oscars show along with people who were significant in that industry is beyond me.

Nearly everything Harold Ramis touched turned into an iconic movie.
How many quotes are referenced in our everyday language?

I’ve got Direct at a family property up north. It’s available here but has problems during our rainy season. Waiting for Centurylink or Verizon to put in fiber optic. Comcast is big supporter of liberal agenda, not to mention having terrible customer relations and quality of service, especially email.
