Formerly the "Quinn and Rose Morning Show" thread, our friendly group continues to meet to start the day as we await the return of our favorite morning talk show - which looks like sometime in March! I messed up our internet connection. Was trying to get it fixed before Mr S got downstairs! He came down and wasn’t happy. I got it fixed. Bad sneakers! Bad! bad! I have to learn not to mess with things. Son checked our internet speed last night. We signed up for 105 mbps. We’re getting between 20 and 50? I realize that we probably won’t get 105, but I expect to get at least 75-80!
We have the 105 but it almost never hits that. With ethernet it’s 80-85 tops. Wifi cuts that in half. It also depends on where you check and what server is used.
Speedtest.net is good but so is the Xfinity test in their support page.
Xfinity checks IPv4 and IPv6.
Another factor with Xfinity/Comcast cable is the number of other users on your node at the same time. If there are a lot of people streaming at the same time things slow down.

Big doings for me today...my former coworker (friend now) and I have a sort of job interview today (please send good thoughts my way—youngest starts P$U Allegheny Campus in fall). The former location of our former employer has been leased by someone in same line of sales who is expanding his business and needs staff. Our former employer gave us excellent recommendations and fingers crossed he offers us work today—we would start after renovations done to old building.
Thanks p6. When son and wife move in (April), I expect it to slow down more. It’s good that we won’t all be home at the same time watching tv, playing on computers and tablets.
Cool! Congrats on another granddauthter! Still waiting to find out what my DIL is having. She is due end of July/beginnning of August.

Hmmmm - a democrat who wants to lower taxes? Have we fallen into an alternate universe?
I’m all for lowering corporate tax rates, but I am suspicious of where the monies lost will come from? The article says higher state taxes, possibly? And I can deal with paying taxes on clothes and other things. Other states do. Maybe it would make the transition to a national sales tax - the Fair Tax - easier? (assuming that ever happens!)
But, again, I am suspicious.
