You must be in the southwest.

Phoenix, maybe, or southern AZ, but certainly not in NM. We are experiencing lows in the teens over most of the state, with a lot of single digits north of the Albuquerque metro area.

A lot of folks don't understand, NM is desert southwest, but much of it is high mountains (Albuquerque ranges from just below 5,000 feet in some areas to well over 6,000 in others). It gets cold here. We just don't get much snow in most parts. A lot goes around us in Albuquerque and hits the east mountains or the eastern plains of NM.

Lowest temps I ever experienced in my life were in NM. -18F that time. I never saw that kind of cold, even in Alaska. Granted, I was in Alaska during the summer... but still. -18 is plenty cold enough as far south as NM. At 7000 ft ASL.

I was in Phoenix last week visiting my son, and he took me up to Sedona: only 100 miles to the north, but the elevation change is from 1000 ft. in PHX to nearly 5000, and both the temperature and oxygen level change were easily palpable.
