That’s a heck of a story, beaversmom. Thank you. :)
So, there may be something to not lathering up every day, unless one has been plowing the north 40, or toiling away in the coal mine.
I do wonder about a lot of the chemicals that are in modern shampoos, lotions, and soaps. Could they be harmful to our overall health when used so frequently over a long period of time?"
Don't know, but I'm going to shower daily anyway.
Plentiful hot water, soap, nice clean towels, etc. are blessings.
On the rare occasion when you have the flu and are too sick to get out of bed to shower, you start feeling sticky and gross right away.
Having been to Germany, Austria and France, I would say this is true in most European countries, except in France where the numbers would be more like 4 out of 5 bath at least once a week.
Thank God they got off at the hub, and didn't finish the cross country jaunt back to Boston.
I read that Queen Elizabeth I only took four baths in her entire life.
Maybe that is why she was a “Virgin Queen”
I don’t know how anyone got together to procreate back then. Just shows you how strong that urge is!
Nana, way, way, back when I was young, my wife and I lived in an apartment that didn’t have a shower, (tub only). I worked in a foundry at an extremely dirty job. I’d come home from work and immediately bathe, then drain the tub and bathe again. Next morning I’d repeat the procedure. The only time I felt really clean was on week ends.
I was so happy to move outta that place and into my own with not one but two showers in it.
an aside:
I was watching an episode, (rerun) of Duck Dynasty recently and heard Miss Kay tell Phil that, “cleanliness was next to Godliness, it’s in the bible”, Phil just said,”ummm”. I think he knew better.
Not in its entirety on a family forum, but it starts: One tomcat says to another: Q: Say, how'd you like having sex with that skunk?
Yes vinegar has many wonderful uses. I use a vinergar rince after each shampoo. It gets out soapy residue and leaves it soft and shiny.
You were passing a cemetery?
Does the story end up with her complaining to her roomate that her back hurt? And upon further examination of said back the roomate replies “Well no wonder - it says here it died in 1938!”
Well, we did walk around town after the bar. She lived quite a way from the bar too.
