One of the big things that's usually overlooked in this case (but needs to be repeated every time it comes up) is that, per Rachel Jeantel's statements, Trayvon thought Zimmerman was gay, launched a gay-bashing attack on Zimmerman and should have been charged with a hate crime had he survived. Where he would have possibly tried the same "gay panic" defense used by the murderers of Mathew Shepard.
