I should have used this little trick to post:

< is used for the <
and
> for the >

any code i past in the dialog window....ends up as the stuff the code references...

You've got to escape the < symbols. Otherwise the browser will try to interpret the code.

What Fiddlstix posted was entered as:

Code can be posted

<a href="https://secure.freerepublic.com/donate/"><img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/ba/Free_Republic_logo.jpg/200px-Free_Republic_logo.jpg" /></a>

This is how it's done.

Note that he also escaped the > symbols. That's allowed but not necessary.

The procedure is to paste the HTML to be posted into a text editor, use the editor's global change to change all < to <, and copy and paste the result into your FR post.

Copy the photo you find on the internet to your pc. Open the photo and note the size. If you use Windows Photo Viewer you can go to File> Properties or better yet is just get irfanview. http://www.irfanview.com

You can resize the photo by saying take 900 x 500 pixel photo and reducing it to 450 x 250 . Reduce both dimensions equally. Copy the web address where the photo was found. http://www.example.jpg

The alt="description of photo that pops up"

Below you add a < at the beginning and > at the end. Plus add a < next to /img

Same when adding text description for br which stands for break. I add 2 of them in a row here to give a space between a paragraph. This has to be described this way because of the limitation in posting here.

img src="http://www.example.jpg" alt="Blnk" width=512 height=147> /img

Also....always use the Preview button before posting the photo. Always reduce the size. You make it too big, people will just scroll past it after being annoyed.

Example: 816px = 8.5”
1056px = 11”

I'm sorry to see you taking so much abuse for asking a civil question. I hope you learn to post and enjoy making your comments more interesting as so many people contributing to this site often do.

PS - If you don't get it working, send me a private reply and I'll make it really simple for you.

Yeah really. Why do posting pics have to be so darn difficult on this site. It’s not difficult elsewhere. I can save a pic to my computer and then upload the pic. Voila!

Then you can got to picture and click on the correct url ...then click on thread here you want to post it...and click on the person's user name where you want it posted..go to EDIT on top of computer and then click, and hit the POST box and it is done.

Be aware that you can legally only post photos in the public domain or for which you have permission or copyright like photos you took yourself.

The easiest way is to upload your photo to a site like Photobucket. Once your photos are loaded on Photobucket you can simply copy the HTML link for your photo and paste it into your post. Photobucket even given the HTML for posting a thumb nail photo in your post that can be linked to the full size image. To be posted in the web your images need to be in jpg, gif or png formats. "Ping" formatted images, png, may not be supported well on all browsers
