Free-agent running back DeMarco Murray is flying to Philadelphia to meet with Eagles officials, with the expectation that he will join the team, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
In the ensuing hours Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys began calling around looking for other running backs, expecting that they will lose Murray, Schefter's sources said.

The Cowboys parted ways with him at the right time. Running backs that have 400 carries in a year are never the same afterward. Thanks for the memories Demarco.

I’ll agree to disagree. Many a day I wanted to throw something through the TV because McCoy was reluctant to hit a hole. Not saying he doesn’t have tremendous talent, his problem was between the ears. He lost some balls. Again, Murray runs down hill and is not afraid to hit that initial hole.

True. They get worn down quickly; however, I don't know if they will need quite that many carries from him in Chip's offense.

It’s a done deal. 5-year, $40M+, $20M guaranteed. Great pick up for Eagles. Next NFC East Champs :>)>

He is a bit of a head case it seems, but I doubt there was a lack of desire to hit holes. You need room to run, and McCoy is shifty, so rather than just put his head down and push the pile, he wants to make something happen. That can backfire obviously, but it also makes him the explosive player he is. I always thought it was a ridiculous criticism of Barry Sanders that he lost yards a lot for the Lions, but imagine him behind the Cowboys line of the early 90s.
What changed in the offense between 2013 and 2014 that could have impacted McCoy's performance? Was it something in his approach, or was it that his offensive line was injured early and the offense lost a big playmaker when they booted Desean Jackson?

They never disappoint me because I never have any expectations of success. I figure it is better to be pleasantly surprised than let down. Some day it might happen. Exactly. It took my kids a few seasons to understand this concept. I tried to explain it but it is really something you have to experience for yourself.

Shady is a “high risk/high reward” type back. He will lose yards sometimes but also bust big plays. Demarco is a more consistent banger when it comes to picking up short yardage and burning clock. Eagles picked up Mathews to take some of the wear and tear off him.
