Cotton, who served in the Army during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, toured the facility Friday along with Republican Sens. Joni Ernst (Iowa), James Lankford (Okla.), Thom Tillis (N.C.) and Mike Rounds (S.D.), who all expressed a desire to keep the facility open.

Heheh.

Just on a roll today. I never even heard of the guy until about two hours ago.

Besides Palin is playing too hard to get this go-around, so far. Time to advocate for someone else for a change.

:D

How about strict obedience to the Geneva Convention? Ununiformed combatants are to be .... By the way, why can an FBI sniper shoot the wife of a person of interest, killing her while she is holding a baby and get a medal and a pension? At the same time the ROE for soldiers in a combat area require them not to shoot at active combatants if there are civilians (?) present.

If they run out of ideas as to who to send there....I’m sure Freepers could make suggestions. Hint: they are not all known jihadis.

I never even heard of the guy until about two hours ago.

Well, that pretty much says it all........he's been well known for at least a year to the politically engaged.

The prisoners should be accompanied by their
lawyers -— and defenders.

(for the time being)

I’m still 100% for Palin, but it does get a bit frustrating waiting for her.

:D

Cotton seems awesome...but way way premature to talk about him on the national ticket. It’s not like with Cruz and Walker we don’t have some real good alternatives.

Don’t wait for Palin to run for office. Her contributions to the national debate are many and varied - but she’s far more effective as the one and only Sarah Palin - as opposed to be one of many Prez candidates or one of 100 Senators.

By the way, Cotton was in a very high profile Senate race where he ousted long time incumbent Mark Pryor.

Just saying.

Cotton is apparently awesome.

He has cross-party appeal. He appeals to Veterans. He appeals to mainstream GOP. He appeals to the Tea Party.

He was elected in a district which historically supports democrats.

He is apparently superb. Why in the world, would we not want to discuss this guy?

Why not? He seems perfect.

At least to me. He appeals to all Americans.

Everyone.

How naive. He has no appeal to Democrats nationally. You can’t judge Democrats by Arkansas. Don’t get me wrong, appeal to Democrats is not necessary - not when you can get all Republicans and most independents with a well articulated conservative message.

But I think I see why you are enamored. You apparently think Cotton’s advantage over Walker and Cruz is this magical mystical appeal to Democrats. No, Dems will hate Cotton as much as they do Walker and Cruz once they get to know him. It’s already started.

If the guy is for American jobs, I’m going to become, a real pain around here... :D

Go Cotton.

The advantage is having too many targets to shoot down. In the US Senate, you now have Cotton, Ernst, and some other newcomers to reinforce the Cruz Crew. Tom Cotton is important to that because the group needed someone with solid military experience to round out their appeal. As a group of leaders, these constitutional conservatives make Jeb and Christie in comparison look like the weak, pathetic, sellout, arrogant has-beens they are.

I agree with that. There are many advantages to having Cotton and other reinforcers of the Cruz crew. I still want Cruz control of that crew.

He is for American jobs, but I'm not sure he agrees with your/Rick Santorum's phony way to get them, or my/Reagan/Palin/Friedman/Sowell/Williams way that will actually work. We'll see....
