Perhaps I should clarify, as I wasn’t specific in my post, not explorer but windows and it’s numerous iterations. I myself have not used explorer since other options were available, and there are trolls on all sides. They just don’t see themselves as trolls.

I've been pretty happy with Pale Moon over the past few years. It's not perfect, but better than Firefox by a nose.

And both, with extensions, are superior to Chrome etc. by far for a power user. Few can even enable multiple tab rows, and adjust their size, or change their color etc.

Most of my favorites (thank God for such)

Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.6 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus

Session Manager 0.7.5 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/

like when there was nothing else.

Huh? Netscape was killing it, IE was MS' answer when Microsoft damn near missed the Internet revolution. MS' answer to try and control its lapsed decision was to embed IE into the OS and they got (rightfully) smacked down. IE was garbage from day one, MS lost and just needs to let it die and be done with it. Plenty of other ways they can re-invent the connectivity experience given all the device now connected to the Internet.

A lot of businesses wrote custom IE only web apps and are still running them to this day. Depending what MS does with regards to compatibility, they my have to completely re-write them.

Why anyone would use anything Microsoft is beyond me. I exclusively use Apple and have not had a virus in 5 years. The only place I use the dinosaur computer with Microsoft is at work......they won’t get Apple because of the cost but then again they are constantly having to do computer maintenance on their system and computers which ends up costing more.....so dumb....no wonder businesses are failing.....they are so dumb with money and finances just like the American Public.

If Windows crashes a lot for you then it is a hardware issue and not Windows. This machine has not been powered down in months! Only restarted after updates. ;-)

Cost is the big factor. I can, and have, purchased a Microsoft compatible computer for around $800 that does everything I want and with the software I need. The inconvenience of having to constantly download updates and patches is a cheap price to pay. IMHO

Pale Moon has been very good. It is the 64-bit version of Firefox.

Microsoft is great as long as you don’t use it too much. a process crashes and the dll’s it’s using stay running sitting there half baked, they are difficult to replace without rebooting. Two releases that use different versions of the same dll can’t tell they are using an incompatible version and the application will crash unexpectedly.

And the updates oh my word, take for ever or hang when you try to power your system down.

Netscape was Mozilla that now does Firefox. I’m not sure what the relationship is, whether Mozilla also puts out Pale Moon, or if some of the Firefox developers got together to generate the 64-bit port.
