Anyone else notice how the media completely ignores Venezuela? If Republicans were smart, they’d cut ads showing people in lines and juxtaposing it with a pic of Obola.

Yup. What is infuriating about the whole thing is that Venezuela does NOT have to depend on oil. It is one of the most resource-rich countries in the world, with a relatively highly-educated middle class (what there is left of it), bountiful hydroelectric resources (not maintained and so breaking down) - farmland, forest, everything you could want. And a political system that has managed to squander all of it, and is now doing what the Left always does - blame somebody else. Maddening.

Yes, China may succeed in doing what Germany’s Kaiser threatened (and failed) to do to Venezuela in 1902.
It seems that back then, Venezuela fell behind on her debt payments to Germany. So the Kaiser sent battleships, cruisers and troops to the Caribbean. His plan was to land the troops and make Venezuela into a German vassal.
But Theodore Roosevelt learned of the plot, invoked the Monroe Doctrine and sent Admiral Dewey’s ships and a detachment of Marines steaming toward Caracas. The Kaiser backed down and Roosevelt’s prestige soared.
These days, however, I guess it’s kinda hard to imagine the Chinese would fear any such US response when they eventually make their move on Venezuela!

I can easily see them doing the same in Venezuela. We’ll forgive a billion dollars for a million acres, etc.
There’s a Russian market nearby (N.E.Philly), it has the typical American bounty. What is funny is seeing the giant bread loaves — 1ft x 2ft x 3ft, cut into quarters to sell. Also, the “sandwich lard”.
