Illinois had the biggest decrease in population according to a new report from the Census Bureau.

Between July 1, 2013 to July 1, 2014, the state lost 9,972 people. On the other end, Texas saw the largest population increase adding more than 450,000 people during that time.

Cook County saw a very slight decrease in population. It’s one of four counties with a population of more than 1 million to experience a decrease. Others include industrial counties like Wayne County, Michigan; Cuyahoga, Ohio; and Allegheny, Pennsylvania.

The rate of people leaving Cook County for other counties has been increasing since 2012. More than 48,600 people left over the 2013-2014 timeframe.

I thought they were creating a Welfare State paradise in Illinois by giving handouts to everyone paid for by taxing the s@@@ out of the evil, greedy “rich”. What happened????

are you SURE it’s not from global warming?

it couldn’t be from our high taxes, anti business environment, unions laws, fair wage laws and gun control could it? Those create a utopia state! It must be global warming.

BTW, before posters rant on Illinois residents (my home state) remember the state is 90% blue with Crook County (Chicago) and Springfield (who has more government workers than residents) making up the red vote. The rest of our state is pretty rural and pretty conservative. Rant away at Cook County and the political machine of Chicago. The rest of us folks who live here are pretty normal, but fed up and moving away, that’s for sure.

Illinois - a great state to be from.

I just hope they’re moving to Maryland or something.

They didn’t move away, they just fell into pot holes on the highways never seen such shoddy work on roads as IL.

I have driven the beautiful state of Illinois from south to north to back again. Rolling hills dotted with farmhouses & silo’s. The best views from interstate highway anywhere.

Then there’s Chicago. When Richard J. Daley Sr. was mayor, it was “the city that worked”. That’s long gone, along with the ward bosses who saw to it that city services were delivered.

Illinois isn’t the only state where the liberal politics & corruption of a single large city dominate the rest of the state.

How about shipping all of Obama’s new illegal aliens to Chicago, Detroit and every other Democrat controlled city? They all have plenty of vacancies and we don’t need any more here in Texas.

$24,000 state debt per capita.
But it’s easier to move out than to fund it.

(I suspect President Clinton will offer the hometown folks a nice bailout when she takes office though. Probably something like federal guaranteed state borrowing.)

I just hope they’re moving to Maryland or something.”

Unfortunately our local news last night said something about the greater Houston area population increasing by almost a million during 2013-2014. I do believe it’s true and they are all out on the freeway system at 5 p.m. Maybe we’ll have a lot of that global warming along with 100% humidity this summer and they’ll all leave! One can only hope.
