We must be about the same age because I remember seeing pictures of survivors of Nazi death camps too. It scared me and also gave me a life long dislike of Germany.

June bugs. And the glowing-eyed monster I was sure lived in the little outbuilding below the main house. Especially after dark.

.................................

It terrified me when I realized that human beings did this and continued in spite of the effects manifested. Plus I felt sad and confused knowing my dad’s side of the family was Bavarian.

Must mention the first night in Saguache. We rented a hotel room and in the night my sister complained about something biting her.

Dad flipped on the light, and the walls were crawling with bed bugs! We got out of there fast!

Later we lived across the street from the old school house, on the south east corner.

The first day there, I noticed the UTE theater had a pirate movie showing! Dad let us go see it, and I still remember that movie, but not the title. I looked up many a web page and found it! CARIBBEAN with John Payne. I still remembered the poster from it.

Life was good pre-1956.

Thanks for sharing.

I remember my Dad telling us kids about the famous mule who helped the miners around Fairplay.

Yes, life was good then.

Several Twilight Zone episodes scared the devil out of me, particularly ‘The Hitchhiker’, the one about the girl who fell through the wall (into another dimension), the one about the navy guy who sees his former (dead) submarine shipmates;
Oh my father had a wonderful sense of humor; used to get his kicks driving us by the graveyard late at night and telling us to get out; or pretend he was driving into the water at the boat ramp; or telling us they were too poor to keep us and my brothers and I would have to go into an orphanage, you know, fun stuff like that!

I will be 75 on my next birthday. I remember my parents talking about pictures in the paper. When they put the paper down I went over and looked at it. I still remember what I saw then.

When I was very young... the Tornado scene in Wizard of Oz and Elephants (trunks...looked like a tornado)

Now I’m a weather geek...go figure.

Had a recurring dream of falling. Never had it again after falling out of a tree and snapping my wrist in two when I was 9. No fear of heights ever again.

so you’re saying falling isn’t nearly as terrifying as one might think?

I'd rather have the robot from Lost in Space come after me than Dr. Smith.
