All About That Bass - Postmodern Jukebox European Tour Version
YouTube ^ | March 17, 2015 | Scott Bradlee

Posted on 03/30/2015 11:42:02 PM PDT by Squawk 8888

To celebrate the last week of our European tour, we got some of the cast together to record this special version of one of our biggest covers - Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass," in the style of PMJ ft. Kate Davis, of course. Not only does it feature vocalists Haley Reinhart, Morgan James, and Ariana Savalas rocking some Andrews Sisters- style harmonies, but it also features a sweet four hand bass solo by Casey Abrams and Adam Kubota. Check us out in London at Indigo O2 on March 22!

I hate that song as my 13 year old daughter commandeers my radio every time she’s in my car and, of course, I’ve heard it ten million times. That however, was a hot cover and I’m going to have to look these guys up.

Cool version.

Any Nana Mouskouri fans here?

She sang a song "Four and twenty hours ..."

The refrain is exactly the same as the refrain in "All about that bass ..." beginning with "My Mama she told me 'don't worry about the boys ..."

I’m sorry, Jazz is great but this version is terrible. Meghan Traynor was never suppposed to sing that song. She co wrote it and they tried it out just like that, realized it wasn’t what they expected so Meghan gives it a shot. She gives it the pizazz it needed to succeed.

The only time I heard the song were these retro kids doing it as a jazz riff. I just... well, the song does very little for me.

Given that bass in the song is a euphemism for the gluteus maximus and the song is referring to anal sex, I’d not let my daughter enjoy that song too much.

The Devil usually saddles up to us instead of coming at us head on. He commonly attacks young women via music and dance.

That’s the idea...PMJ is ultimately a parody group.

You’ll have to tell me which specific lines in the lyrics represent anal sex.

Never heard the song, but just finished reading the lyrics, and frankly, I think your interpretation is silly.

Do a search “give bass” and you’ll see. It’s about butts and in the hip hop and homosexual subcultures it refers to anal sex.

She’s got another song on a similar note: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDc_5zpBj7s

You use ‘silly’ too much in your posts.

Postmodern Jukebox recorded ALL ABOUT THAT BASS with Kate Davis..last year. That’s the version that you’ve posted here.. HOWEVER..

About 3-4 weeks ago, they recorded the same song again, while in Zurich Switzerland, with the European Tour cast members of Postmodern Jukebox..BUT with two very special people who joined them on the last leg of the tour.

I’m sure some of you might remember AMERICAN IDOL, season 10..Some country singing wannabe won the competition that season..BUT the BEST singer that season was HALEY REINHART, a terrific JAZZ singer; who was voted off at Number 3 in the top 5. Her buddy, Casey Abrams was also in the top 5 that year.

Haley and Casey joined Postmodern Jukebox on their European tour, they recorded THIS version of ALL ABOUT THAT BASS... this is the BETTER version..far better than the Kate Davis, or even the original Meghan Trainor version.. this version is HOT..it’s also my current ear worm of the moment.

Check it out.. this is REALLY good. =

If ya like that, you also might enjoy hearing Haley sing HABITS with Postmodern Jukebox.. she’s really an incredibly talented jazz singer.. =
