Thank you!
JK comes home yesterday and tells me that there is a new law that, if your sprinklers come on less than 24 hours after it rains here, even if it is your “legal” watering day, we will be fined several hundred dollars. So, the politicians create a water shortage crisis and then fine us for not following new regulations in order to deal with the “crisis”. I am so sick of this!! We are being regulated to death in this state, and we’re being starved of water to appease the environmentalists who care more about a stupid non-endangered fish than they do families in this valley.
I sure hope your well water holds up, Amy. That is a huge expense that almost no one can afford, on top of everything else.
I think we are in good shape. We are having our pump lowered before the water level drops below the pump setting. It will only cost us about $400. Seems like a lot but compared to having to buy a new pump that is chunk change. I think our ag well is okay. That pump and well cost us over $30,000 12 years ago. I have no idea what it would cost now.
I’ve heard that there is a waiting list for digging new wells of over 2 years. One of Leonard’s nephews works for a drilling company and he said farmers are offering a bonus if they can be moved up the list. I think that is bribery ( LOL ), but they are desperate. They already have big money invested in the land and the planted trees and/or vines.
It makes me sick to see what the environmentalists and our liberal government are doing to our state. This will affect the entire country.
On August 4, 1991, the MTS Oceanos cruise ship ran into a terrible storm off the coast of South Africa. When the ship began to sink, the captain decided to abandon ship and left with his officers, failing to notify those onboard of any problem. Passenger Moss Hills, a British musician, noticed that something was wrong and sent out a Mayday signal to the South African coast guard. Then, taking matters into their own hands, Moss, his wife Tracy, and other entertainers on board helped organize the evacuation of all passengers by assisting them as they were lifted into helicopters.
Sometimes those we look to for leadership can let us down. When King Saul and his officers faced the belligerent insults of the Philistine giant Goliath, they responded with fear and timidity (1 Sam. 17:11). But a young musician and shepherd boy named David had faith in God that transformed his perspective on this threat. David said to Goliath, You come to me with a sword . . . . But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts (v.45). David defeated the enemy and turned the tide of battle (v.50). He did not look to earthly leaders for his strength but to the living God.
When others let us down, God may be calling us to provide leadership in His strength and for His honor.
Wow..great story!
Amen.
Great story....and message. Blessings and thanks.
Quick visit to the Hill Country, where it's cloudy and foggy.
We had 1 1/2" of rain in under an hour, at home (Houston area), yesterday. Wish I could send it to our FRiends in CA.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and weekend.
I’d love to be in the hill country this morning...Wimberley!! LOVE that place!

Being walkers with the dawn and morning,
We are not afraid of night,
Nor days of gloom,
Nor darkness--
Being walkers with the sun and morning.

The ride across the Colorado river in La Grange would be sweet on a bike today.
Of course, if I were a slave cat, I probably wouldn't have it any other way.
(Oh, crap. Said that out loud, didn't I?)
