Try swapping out half the anchovies (which I love, but too many people do not) for 1-2 oz. of well-chopped crispy bacon. Also, do you finely chop your anchovies or not? I don't care, but, as noted, some folks have a bias against them, and finely chopping them tends to give these folks one less thing about which to complain.

Just for the record, ol' SAJ was a very active participant on Lib27's cooking/recipe thread a couple of years ago.

I can get anchovy paste here, and I wind up using it in a lot of salad dressings and just never discussing it. ;)

I love it on crackers like a spread, but that's me.
