Jesus of Nazareth was executed today on the orders of the Roman State. Method of execution: Crucifixion. The charge under Roman law was treason, and under Herodian law blasphemy against the Temple. The evidence against this anarchist was so strong that authorities of both the Roman State and the Kingdom of Herod concurred with the arrest and execution, and he was subjected to trial by both governments. And in a rare uprising of spontaneous collective justice, the mass of people who were gathered for Passover called for his execution as well. The mob affirmed their loyalty to the state, chanting, We have no king but Caesar.
Fridays execution ended a career as an anti-government agitator with a long history of lawlessness. The family was in possession of falsified, illegal, and unsanctioned genealogical records which claim to indicate that Jesus was of royal lineage, and undermined the legitimate claim of Herod to the throne. The malicious claim, which has been spread widely among the people, is that the King is an Idumean and not a Jew. The king is tormented by this claim, and laments that shortly after his fathers rise to power the genealogical records (which would certainly have proven his legitimate right to reign) perished in a mysterious fire, likely set by anti-government agitators.
Even as a young child, Jesus was recognized as an enemy of the state and was sentenced to death by the current Kings predecessor, Herod the Great. Subversive foreign agents lied to the king, and with their help Jesus and his family escaped the lawful orders of the government authority by illegally emigrating to Egypt, where they remained in hiding until the death of the king.

If Jesus were to walk into Washington DC and preached the Gospel today, the DC police would arrest Him, the homosexual community would revile against Him, Obama would criticize Him, and Jesse Jackson would call Him a heretic and a blasphemer. And Farakhan would accuse Him of being an “Evil Zionist Jew” and call on Muslims and his followers to condemn Him and call for His death.
So no different from the 1st century to today.
I pray for the souls of today that the Evil One is capturing so easily through the leadership of this country. They have deceived the population, followed after the ways of Korah, disobeyed their parents, and are caught up in the lusts of the world
Just as ABCBSNBCNNMSNBSNYLAT would have reported it. Fox might have given Nicodemus fifteen seconds of air time to present his somewhat softer view, fair and balanced and all that.
This 2014 Good Friday article by Jerry Bowyer is terrific. Too bad he did not follow up with an Easter version two days later. Still, it is a brilliant though provoking way to bring the persecution and execution of Jesus into the present day.
WELL ... talk about “SLAUGHTERING A STORY” ... this writer is certainly doing it. The only thing I can think he’s doing is writing SATIRE.
I can’t think of “the point” here in writing SATIRE ... because most readers don’t know enough of the account of Jesus to even recognize it as satire.
Because of that fact, that so much of the readership in this country are totally ignorant of the “real story” and perhaps will think this is a true version (no matter what the writer thinks he’s trying to sccomplish) ... this article turns out to ba a TOTALLY WORTHLESS ARTICLE!!
This is a TOTALLY WORTHLESS and PERVERTED version of the account. I can’t think of a worse thing to do!
Talk about missing the point...
Most in the USA don’t “know the point” in the first place ... with the “real account” ... to be able to “miss the point” with this account!
This is a TOTALLY WORTHLESS and PERVERTED version of the account. I cant think of a worse thing to do!
Agree. The true story is powerful enough.
This was one of the best “If Jesus Were on Trial Today” pieces. The writers intent was to get people to see the trial of Jesus in a fresh, “out of the box” way and he is successful. Is this piece going to be appreciated and helpful to everybody? No. But for some, and likely for many of his readers in Forbes- it was greatly appreciated.
That didn’t work out too good for them....just saying.
I NEVER THOUGHT OF IT JUST THAT WAY, BUT YOU are absulutely right!!!(caps lock on..didn't notice...wasn't yelling at you!!!)
No it isn't...pay attention to the message...The writer is kind of saying that this is what would happen today...screwball government rulings, prejudiced people, rabble roussing groups...etc....Remember Ferguson where an innocent cop was pilloried for doing his job???
Jesus was just doing His job.
