Kentucky's perfect season ends with 71-64 loss to Wisconsin
Yahoo ^ | April 4, 2015 | EDDIE PELLS

".....The hard-nosed Wisconsin Badgers did what nobody else could Saturday night — knocking off the Wildcats 71-64 behind 20 points and 11 rebounds from Frank Kaminsky and a clutch comeback down the stretch.

Now, it's Wisconsin heading to the final to play Duke, an 81-61 winner over Michigan State in the earlier — and much less entertaining — semifinal.

"It gives us another 40 minutes, I know that," said Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan, who leads the Badgers to their first final since 1941.

And Kentucky has a long ride home, finishing the season at 38-1 — two wins short of becoming the first undefeated team in college basketball since the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers. Instead, these NBA-ready group of Wildcats join the star-studded 1991 UNLV team as the latest to take an undefeated record into the Final Four but lose in the semifinals....."

Kentucky seemed to struggle the past couple of games. Maybe the pressure started getting to them

Nah. They just started to play better teams. They had a great season but it was a tad misleading. Playing in the Southeatern Conference almost every game should have been an automatic win for them. The SEC has been a good basketball conference at times but not this year.

I don't think Kentucky would have won the Atlantic Coast Conference if they played in it. They would not have gone undefeated in the PAC 10, Big 10, ACC, or the Big 12.

They're a very good team, mind you but they were only one good team.

A Reporter Asks a College Basketball Player About His Rival. The Player Puts His Hand Over His Mouth, but the Mic Still Picks Up the Profane Thing He Says in Respons He had just three words to describe the man who defeated him.

Wisconsin ended Kentucky’s perfect season Saturday night, with Frank Kaminsky leading Wisconsin’s scoring in the 71-64 Final Four victory.

When Kentucky player Andrew Harrison took questions from reporters after the game, his anger towards Kaminsky was palpable.

“I was wondering if you could talk about Kaminsky and what makes him so difficult to defend?” a reporter asked.

Before the reporter could even finish the question, Harrison was muttering in front of a live mic, “F*** that n*****.”

The comment was picked up and broadcast on live TV

Can you imagine how much news this incident would make if it was Kaminski discussing Harrison? “F*** that N*****” is ok to say - even at press conferences - as long as you are black.

Has anyone seen the comment at PC-ESPN? 'Somebody needs a Snickers bar.'

How do the kids at Bucknell, Oklahoma, and Bloomsburg (tossed from school and off the team) feel about this double standard I wonder?

“...Wisconsin’s last loss to Kentucky had lingered for 364 days. Kaminsky, who scored a game-high 20 points Saturday, said Harrison’s game-winner last season was “the most heartbreaking shot” of his life. The memory was so painful that Kaminsky vowed he would never again watch that entire game. “I hate seeing myself losing,” he wrote in a blog post. “Basketball is a crazy sport, and anything can happen. Anyone can beat anyone.”

It was almost exactly one year later when Wisconsin went out and proved Kaminsky prophetic. Anyone can beat anyone—even Kentucky...”

Another funny angle is that UK fans’ idol - Adolph Rupp - most certainly would be right at home with that language.

What’s with those freaks from Wisconsin. They didn’t appear to be festooned with ink. Stupid nonconformist! They need to get with copycatism and the herd mentality like the rest the sheep in the NBA, MLB and NFL.

Kentucky might not have gone undefeated in the WCC. Gonzaga's tough at home, and would have had one game in the cozy confines of the Kennel.

Looks like our 3 bigs are coming back, and will be joined by a couple redshirts, to include another 7 footer that went through a year of development similar to Kelly Olynyk.

Props to Wisconsin, they played a great game.

Kaminsky came out to rest and back came Kentucky into the game. If Wisconsin had lost, that would have been a question.

Player K on one team, Coach K on the other.

“Obama curse continues.”

We needed the ‘Obama Curse’ in 2012...on his own campaign. Oh, wait, we had it but some RINO from Massacre-shits was running the other way as fast as he could.

Sweet: thugs schooled in team play, and to see the Tony Soprano wannabe Calipari get that arrogant smirk wiped off his face. NCAA sanctions around the corner??

Bobby Knight was the coach and today they would have him in rehab for political correctness.

I couldn’t believe the announcer on knees performing for Kentucky. Any foul against them was bad officiating and any call for them was the right call.

As a former hockey official at relatively high (NCAA/ACHA and emergency replacement in AAHL lower level pro) Officiating was inconsistent. Very lucky game did not get out of control. Standard changed during game. UW persevered thru 3-4 obvious non calls and marginal calls. Thugs on UK did the acts and pouting while Calipari tried to bully officials when things did not go their way

I will always remember it because my grandmother died without seeing the final game. ( her wake was the night of the win).
Widowed young with only a six grade education grandma was a huge IU fan. 6 of her 7 children were alumni ( the 7 from another Indiana school)
One of her last comments to family was “damn I’m gonna miss the game!”
If you watch it again several times the ball circled the rim only to fall in for an IU score ! (It was obvious grams had a front row seat and was tipping them in!)
They were her team! She referred to the players as her boys! And yes, nothing against KU I’m elated that whatever the circumstances their record stands The original Hoosiermama I’m sure was flapping her wings!

They're a very good team, mind you but they were only one good team.

Agreed. Kentucky dominated the SEC is a down year for that league. They would not have gone unbeaten in most of the other major conferences. They finally met a team in Wisconsin that had the size to hold its own inside. That exposed Kentucky's weakness from outside.
