The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Happy Easter all...He is Risen!

An Easter and baseball lineup tonight...LOVE the Jack Benny “walking in the Easter Parade” episode...some Lucille Ball...classic “Who’s on first”...and oddly, ending with the Aldrich Family which doesn’t seem like the strongest close.

How’s your day going? It’s beautiful in the mid Atlantic. Play Ball!

Hi, Vision! No, the Easter Bunny blew us off. No candy, no pretty colored eggs—NOTHING! :-)

How was your day and week? Any news?

Had a nice day, got some cookies and chocolate. Went to Mass. No major news, was a smooth week. Made some pasta last night, some family's in town.

Looking forward to a nice evening. Wish Ed was playing Fred Allen show from 11/25/45 (classic baseball bit).

The Orioles opener is tomorrow. Excited that baseball is back.

Oh, all that sounds nice, and you’re a baseball fan, so the time is great now.

Our week was quiet, and today was busy. It’s raining on our barbecue right now (chicken), but we have this big umbrella that we can open over the grill, so it doesn’t get wet.

Vision, I’ve never told you about the game Keith and I play when Dragnet comes on. The intro to the show is always the same, with the announcer guy setting up the crime, and then he always says, “Your job, [blank].” Then Joe Friday comes on and describes the weather in Los Angeles. He’ll say something like, “It was Tuesday, March 7th. It was [blank] in Los Angeles.” Our game is to guess the two blanks, and today, I got both of them! “Your job—find him,” and “It was warm in Los Angeles.” :-) When he said “June,” Keith said “hot,” and I said “warm.”

haha, funny stuff.

And Ben usually goes into (this just went wrong) and I'm feeling bad or something.

This could be the wife's cooking, sunburn, whatever.

Was that even a complete story?

Kitty’s Dad comes to town and she gets into a fight with him?

Well, he tried to “commandeer” her—not really her, but her money. She called his bluff and sent him packing.
