Yeah, I wonder if my local Ronald McDonald house ... which is a charity housing parents of sick children, is affiliated with MCD.

Hubby had a 3 day stay in one of our local hospitals in January. I went down to have breakfast and ordered a biscuit and gravy. When she handed it to me she said it was vegetarian sausage. I told her there is no such thing, handed it back to her and walked off.

Personally, I don’t care. I find it kind of amusing when I see a McD’s in a hospital, but, as long as it’s not your primary source of food for an extended period, it’s not really hurting anyone.

I agree with you about the hospital food. Boiled chicken and tapioca (fresh out of some formaldehyde-laced packaging) isn’t going to be any better for you than McD’s.

I wonder if the quality of ingredients is any better than McD’s?

[ The hospital is making some money by leasing space to fast food companies. Should they not do so? Many hospitals are in financial trouble and need all the revenue they can get. ]

If hospitals could shake down the countries of origin for all the care their provide THEIR citizens for FREE then they wouldn’t need to open a McDonalds in it....

Of course the libs now whine about Ronald McDonalds setting up shop inthe lobby while Juan-ald McDiaz-alds clog up the ER for free (to them) healthcare that we all pay for and the hospital has to EAT a lot fo the cost....

[ Of more concern should be the garbage in the infant formulas hospitals stock...high fructose corn syrup, soybeans, and ‘things you can’t pronounce’; a flaming red flag. ]

Last time I was in a hospital they tried to feed me “Glucerna” which is just as bad, the can itself looked like something from the Nixon era....

Nothing but empty calories of corn syrup and tasted like literal crap, I found other things to eat.

"Skyline Chili is co located. Best chili dogs and fries."

Personally, I like the 5 - way Skyline. The bottom line is that hospitals get a cut of the food vendor's action so I am sure some hospitals are more interested in their bottom line cash flow rather than having healthy food offerings to the public. Junk food sells.

“I wonder if the quality of ingredients is any better than McD’s?”

That’s a good question, in fact, a GREAT QUESTION.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., which promotes a vegan diet, preventive medicine, alternatives to animal research, and encourages what it describes as "higher standards of ethics and effectiveness in research."[1] Its primary activities include outreach and education about nutrition and compassionate choices to healthcare professionals and the public; ending the use of animals in medical school curricula; and advocating for legislative changes on the local and national levels.

The American Medical Association (AMA) has called PCRM a "pseudo-physicians group" and said that following its advice "could be dangerous to the health and well-being of Americans."[2]

However, somehow when McDonalds puts these things together, they are considered "Junk Food".

I consider them "poison"

Just look at the list of ingredients in their 'bread':

Ingredients: Enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), water, high fructose corn syrup and/or sugar, yeast, soybean oil and/or canola oil, contains 2% or less of the following: salt, wheat gluten, calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, dough conditioners (may contain one or more of the following: sodium stearoyl lactylate, datem, ascorbic acid, azodicarbonamide, mono- and diglycerides, ethoxylated monoglycerides, monocalcium phosphate, enzymes, guar gum, calcium peroxide), sorbic acid, calcium propionate and/or sodium propionate (preservatives), soy lecithin.

Eat only real food - grass fed meats, fish, vegetables, Omega 3 oils, nuts. Don't use vegetable oils (omega 6 oils), refined sugars or grains. I fry in lard and bacon fat.

I volunteer at my local hospital..so I’m there 1-2 days a week...there’s an outdoor “designated smoking area” near the parking structure..so I pass by twice each day. It always surprises me to see the number of staff that still smoke. My “faves” are the respiratory therapists..
