Fat and carb bombs. Oversized buns, undersized hamburger patties. The worst Cheese you could possibly buy for salt and fat content.

The fries, like the bun is over portioned. A child growing up seeing supersized fries starts to think thats a normal portion, no wonder they grow up obese and type 2 diabetics with heart disease.

Having worked at a McDs once I can tell you that the
buns have a higher sugar content, this allows them
to carmelize in the toaster in the required amount
of time. Every thing is done on a timer system.

reminds me of a guy i used to work with..

we would go into a restaurant for lunch, and he would say “ I’ll have the childrens menu please”. when they asked him what he would want off the childrens menu, he would say, “ no, i would like the childrens menu please. one of each”...

he would get a little serving of damn near everything on the menu for dirt cheap pricing...

The zinger is that if you compare a Whataburger to a Big Mac, the former is still the same size it was in the 1950s, but the Big Mac has shrunk to the point of being a slider.

Seriously, the Big Mac used to be as wide as a Whataburger, and twice as tall. It was hard for a single person to eat one.

Ironically, McDonalds has made the terrible business decision to do what a small, noisy minority demand they do; a minority that doesn’t even eat at McDonalds; instead of giving the customer what they want.

“My opinion is that the media is the main
supporter of healthy eating. We’re certainly
not hearing it from our customers”
— Andrew Puzder, CEO of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.

I eat chicken...a lot of chicken.

But a couple of times a month I'll indulge in a good hamburger. I've tried Smashburger and 5Guys but the best is the 1/2 lb Angus "Thickburger" at Hardees.

Actually, I was agreeing with you, specifically this part:

I oppose all the McDonald’s bashing I see;

My fault, I should have been more concise in my post ;)

When I'm in the mood for a burger, I choose to have one like a civilized human being. Not stand in line at a slimy fast-food joint like McDonalds with their "value meals" and their mass-produced "freezer-to-microwave" junk.

There are thousands of bars and grills all across America where you can sit at the bar, order a real burger cooked the way you like it, and sip on a glass of beer. Around lunch time, you can be in and out of there in a half hour and you don't have to worry about spilling drinks in the car and having french fries fall into that space between the seat and the console, never to be seen again (though you will always know they will be there).

Slow down. Take a breather. Belly up to the bar and eat lunch like a civilized person. If you are at work and can't don't drink alcohol you can order a Coke or something. But go ahead and have that beer. I won't tell your boss.

Unfortunately most Americans, these days, won’t understand that 1/3 of a pound is more than 1/4 of a pound.

“the chain is pushing to improve perceptions about the quality of its food”

Here’s and idea: instead of worrying about improving perceptions of food quality, improve the ACTUAL QUALITY of the food and the perceptions of the quality will improve as well.

20+ years ago, when my kids were small, and we traveled a lot, you could always count on a McDonalds to be clean, even if the grub was subpar.

These days, they seem to be in the lower tier in that category. If I was a honcho, that’s where I’d start the reformation.

Good point about Michelle - I suspect they’ll have to reconsider the plan once she weighs in.
