Denzel Washington Speaks Out Against Liberal Hollywood and Supports His Christian Faith
Conservative Post ^ | 4/5/2015 | Diana

Denzel Washington is a two-time Oscar winner; however, he isn't afraid to speak out against liberal Hollywood and support his Christian faith. “I read from the Bible every day, and I read my Daily Word,” he told a reporter, adding that it was not difficult for him to grow up as the son of a preacher. “He wasn't a taskmaster, but there were certain things you couldn't do,” Washington said. “He had his own church, and it was a long Sunday, because you had to be there all day.” “Everyone I grew up with didn't have a father,” he continued. “I had a father. My father was a decent man. He was a very spiritual man and a gentleman.” Today Washington is a strong Christian, but at times, he struggled growing up. In his teens, Denzel became rebellious after attending church started to feel like a “job”. This settled in his 20s when he had a personal encounter with God that occurred in the same church Washington attends today. “The minister was preaching, ‘Just let it go,’” Washington recalled. “I said, ‘I’m going to go with it.’ And I had this tremendous physical and spiritual experience.” “It did frighten me,” he stated. “I was slobbering, crying, sweating. My cheeks blew up. I was purging. It was too intense.” Denzel’s experience led him to questions:

“It almost drove me away. I called my mother, and she said I was being filled with the Holy Spirit. “I was like, ‘Does that mean I can never have wine again?’” Ever since, Washington is a proud Christian and has even considered becoming a preacher. “A part of me still says, ‘Maybe, Denzel, you’re supposed to preach. Maybe you’re still compromising,’” he said during an interview. Washington gave some advice to staying close to God: “Put your slippers way under your bed so when you get up in the morning, you have to get on your knees to find them. And while you’re down there, start your day with prayer. Ask for wisdom. Ask for understanding,” he said. “Don’t aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference.”

Denzel is one of the few actor’s I’ll still pay theatre prices to go see.

These lefties just can’t sell their roles anymore.

“Washington was a staunch Obama supporter during the 2008 presidential campaign”

I can’t really blame black people for supporting Obama in ‘08. I don’t think that if I were black I’d’ve voted for him, but I’m very staunchly pro-life, however, it was truly an historic event.

Too bad it was all BS, but if such as Peggy Noonan, Christopher Buckley and David “trouser crease” Brooks got suckered in, it’s hard to come down hard on those for whom the election of a black president was a grand validation.

I never knew Denzel Washington was a Christian, I realized he was a tremendous actor when I woke up in the middle of “Training Day” (hubby was watching it on TV). It was the scene were he’s explaining to the rookie cop why it is OK, actually good, that they are corrupt cops. I tell you, I was a bit half asleep, but I got what he was saying and I was almost buying it. I was like: whoa, this guy is GOOD.

If he ever did become a preacher he would probably be able to fill Madison Square Garden on a weekly basis.

Interesting, I always like that in “Man on Fire” his character Creasy was reading Scripture. That was a great movie.

I CAN blame black people for voting for Obama...just because he was half black. Historic or not!!

I blame white people for voting for him,,,just because he was half white, half black too!!

BILLED AS BLACK..THOUGH HALF WHITE!!

Personally...I'm sick of this color thing...but I suspect it's never going to end.

We have enough dumb ass people in this country...to keep the moron's in D.C.

Loved Washington in the first film I ever saw him in, Glory. In my opinion the best Civil War movie ever made.

I think Denzel is one of our very best present day actors.

Amen, and I'll raise you one: I think we have many present day actors that can hold their own in any contest, including the greats of the past like Bogie, Wayne, Stewart, and all the greats. We have many new greats. Denzel is way up on that list even before reading this. He's a great actor. We're blessed.

The man is living out his life his own way as a Christian. Can you do any better?

Being a Christian and supporting Obama??...we knew years ago about this President, and so did he. He knew about Clinton as well, every bit as bad as Obama

Those are good points. Pray that he gets some input from conservative black folks who wake him up. Religious freedom is at issue, and "conservative" means protecting it. Republican doesn't mean a damned thing.

Any Black Christian who voted for Obama voted race over ideology.

Any black Christian who votes Democrat these days is voting for worldly ideology over God, and the worst part is that they're still getting screwed by Democrats even on the worldly stuff.

A Christian of any color voting for the party of abortion, promiscuity, homosexuality, and atheism is engaging in the ultimate cognitive dissonance.
