The number of people who thought Barry Manilow was straight is roughly equal to the number who thought Liberace was straight. Both are/were showmen with talent to appeal to “old maids” and retirees.

Both Liberace and Manilow have been great performers who never hurt anyone, and if viewed as part of American culture, actually helped preserve good music and showmenship.

Compare them to some of the poseurs in the music field today. Talent versus Smoke and Mirrors. I’ll take talent any day. Much easier on the ears and soul.

Let’s appreciate them for what they gave us, musical pleasure and good shows.
