I hear you. It’s really not that unusual, especially for an innocent young girl, to misperceive the sexual direction of a young man who they believe is sensitive and romantic.
Most hetero guys are not very romantic. Although I have to mention that my son is a bit of a romantic. He is always leaving flowers in his girlfriends locker at school, or on her chair in class, or having the restaurant write love notes in the icing of a piece of cake (that is how he asked her to prom). Heck, he even wrote her a song on his guitar and sang it to her.
Sad thing is that he didn't get it from me.
