My hip is killing me and I need Freeper diagnosis

Okay Freepers. Time to play Freeper MD.

For three weeks my hip has been killing me. left side.

Doesn't hurt when I jabbed with my thumb.

Has been hurting when I lay on it.

The last three days, it has been hurting when I sit.

My vainglorius head is getting bigger but, I discern no deformation or growth in the area of pain.

As I sit here typing this out, it is throbbing.

Get to guessing.

Bursitis? Just the fun of being a bit over 50? Hypochondriac? I'm no longer hip?

My guess it bursitis. I am pretty flexible. Can still nearly do the splits, though not as well I did when worked out all the time and I put my palms on the floor and go further just to show off.

Male 51 Dashing looks Vain

Get on with it...

Just curious if y'all have any experience and it turned out to be something a cortisone shot took care of.

The pain differs day to day - some days all of the way through the foot, then weeks on end without much of anything. I sleep about 3 hours a night now in a recliner - since I started that the pain is much, much better. It used to cripple me for days on end, now I am rarely slowed down because of it.

But, when it hits, ouch.

I can’t tell from that description, but a few months ago I started having problems with my hip. It hurt to lay on that side, and the whole leg would cramp up during the day.

During one of my regular appointments with my chiropractor I happened to mention it. He checked and saw that one hip was higher than the other, when it wasn’t before. A few pretzel-twists and lots of popping noises later, he got it back in place and I was fine.

Might yours just be out of place and need adjusted?

“This is on the outside of the hip, at the corner.”

Outside? Sounds like a hip pointer. I thought it was pain deep in the hip joint itself.

Trochanteric bursitis and gluteal tendinopathy. Sometimes symptoms are due to one or the other, but they can coexist and are difficult to separate clinically, so they are often lumped together as "later hip pain syndrome".

See it all the time on MR and I also have it on my left. (I'm also a 51 yo male interestingly).

I finally realized what i think is a major contributing factor: i sit for hours left ankle crossed over right knee with my laptop (like right now). The external rotation and abduction clearly aggravate it. I've never sought treatment because i'm pretty sure the answer for me is behavior modification which i haven't done so i can't complain.

Cut out all artificitial food and drinks. Soda is the worst
Drink Clear filtered water (I have a Berkey) protein and organic veggies only.

Get your phone outta your pocket and your lap top off of your bed, out of your bedroom. Put your electronics away.

It might be bursitis but usually there is a hot spot on your hip at the joint and it is tender to the touch.

You might want to check your shoes.

If your shoes are not fitting properly you can have back or hip pain.

Sounds like bursitis, especially if the pain goes away with activity and comes back when you sit or lie down.

I had bone reconstructive surgery(s) ( 8 in total on both knees and hip ) in both knees and hip from the time I was 3 years old to the time I was 15.

Right after I was born I had a bone infection called Osteomylitus.

No fun, painful all my life..

Now I am in my 50s, it will never get better, only worse..

It might be a back problem that that is causing “referred pain” in your hip.

I love to stretch but, I haven’t been doing all of them over the last three years with my shoulder operations.

I think you are overdoing the stretching.

check out this video....."Slow Exercise"...came out of osteoporosis research.....strengthens the muscles with very heavy weights at a slow rate....In less than a year all my weights have increased x2 or x3 depending on the exercise.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K05Db4WGxXg

Also the life-style for longevity here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPn79iHSuOw

I follow both...got my commercial driving license 3 years ago at age 70.

Now I just started a new job manually loading trucks.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Joking aside, it could help if it were a poultice or a gallon of strong cannabis tea in a bath. Ditch weed would suffice. (not to mention the only affordable way to do it) But where are you going to get a pound or two of fresh ditchweed in mid-April?

sciatica.

I tend to agree. Chiropractor if really bad.

Aleve also helps reduce inflammation of the nerve.
