Although it is odd, it is possible that this was a planned attack on Wal-Mart. Hit the stores simultaneously and hit their plumbing, so they are forced to close.

That still does not explain the SIX MONTH estimated down time, or the fact that none of the affected stores seem to have applied for the necessary repair permits yet.
