I feel certain a Marine with 2 tours of duty in Iraq under his belt knows when to pull the trigger.

The suspect had just murdered 2 people and is running at the officer with his hand in his pocket screaming that he has a gun and he’s going to shoot him. If you want to take the chance that he just kidding and doesn’t mean it be my guest.

The cop used his judgement and handled the situation, he is proven right, yet some are angry as heck that he did not do a bad shooting.

So you don’t understand the term “pulled my weapon?”

It would not have been a bad shooting. No reasonable person could have faulted him. If you call laying on your back with a possibly armed murderer standing over you “handling the situation” then we’ll agree to disagree. Unless, of course, you think that layed down in the street on purpose to gain some tactical advantage. Goodnight.

I’m not sure that said that you pulled a gun on the man, did you pull a gun on him? Did the cop?

It would have been a bad shooting, he would have gotten away with it, but killing the man obviously wasn’t called for.

What is all this bloodlust that you guys have, why can’t a cop not kill someone, and make an arrest, and be left alone?

This cop is taking a beating and some on this thread want him gone from police work, because he did not unnecessarily kill a man he was arrested.

I also do not want good cops sacrificing there lives because they're too scared of the consequences for protecting themselves which is what I believe happened here.

He didn't seem overly scared to me but being scared is always a factor. Appeared he did not see a weapon and decided to hold back, likely based on information he did have.

It goes both ways. Shooting someone to death before a weapon is ever seen can also be quite problematic for the shooter. Even though he was legally justified here.

The cop told the suspect he didn't want to shoot him but would if he had to. The suspect is telling the cop, "Shoot me" repeatedly but never produced a weapon.

It's human nature not to be too quick to take a life. It even happens in war. Its a moral thing. It's hard to completely train that out of most people.

While I infer it in my previous posts, see post 77.

Once the threat was over I put my weapon away. I don’t know if the cop pulled his weapon on him or not since I was not near the druggie, he retreated to his squatter’s hideaway and I retreated to safer distance further up the main driveway to my property until the cops arrived.

Thankfully, that druggie has since relocated to a different squatting location, but there are others in the my area. I am never on my property without my weapon.

The cop and I both felt the need to pull our weapon, and neither one of us fired our weapon, but for different reasons.

By druggie, I guess you mean homeless person. I'm still mystified why your language about pulling your gun on the man is so inconclusive.

Did you pull the gun on the man to stop him, which is what you implied and the impression that you keep trying to give, did he look at you holding your gun and then stop?

This cop is stupid. He is lucky to be alive. Next time he may not be.

When someone says “I’m going to kill you” it’s best to believe them. It’s not a good idea to hope that they don’t.

If that were true I would have had to kill a lot of men.

But previously the cop was told the suspect possibly wanted the cops to kill him. Suicide by cop. The suspect also repeatedly told the cop to shoot him. The cop told the suspect, who never did produce a weapon, he didn’t want to shoot him but would. He held off, and apparently the suspect had no gun on him.

You can’t change the outcome.
