It’s Norway FM’s equivalent of the move to digital TV in the US. They’ll still be broadcasting, just in a different band. Not unlike the situation we had with converters for our TV’s, they’ll be putting converters on their car radios.

It's the natural evolution of things. FM radio will hang on in the United States a bit longer but even here, its days are numbered.

Well, at least there are some AM stations (mediumwave) and LW (longwave) stations left in Europe. This is a mistake since analog radio is easily receivable on a basic receiver. I can understand digital broadcasting foe TV but for radio and so on, radio is the lowest common denominator for getting information out there, sometimes I wonder if it is an effort for “The Powers That Be” to be able to control information. I think all of this is part of a modern day “Tower of Babel” where if you hit it at a few key points, it will all come down and chaos will ensue.
