The media didn't "miss" vetting Obama. They either didn't want to or didn't want to report on what they found. If he was a Marxist or a closet Muslim, they didn't want to know it.
That or were told not to. Think of Operation Mockingbird but run by Saudis corporate owners instead of the CIA.
