Ya know, it’s OK that Apple hasn’t completely figured out what to do with this thing. That’s what’s great about new platforms: customers can figure that out. As an app writer, I’m excited to see what can be done with this. People didn’t know quite what to do with the iPhone at first either, but the results indicate pulling that stunt again is probably a profitable idea.
Actually, with the iPhone, there was already precedent on how a “smartphone” was going to work for a couple of years—the Palm Treo phone and Windows Mobile phones set the precedent, but their interfaces weren’t anywhere as elegant as what Apple pulled off.
