A group of Native American actors quit an Adam Sandler movie because they feel it's insulting and racist ... but Netflix says the outraged actors are missing the whole point of the film.
The movie is called "The Ridiculous Six" and is being produced for Netflix. It's described as a spoof on "The Magnificent Seven" ... starring Sandler, Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, Dan Aykroyd, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice.
But the spoofing went too far Wednesday, in the eyes of a dozen actors and actresses who walked off the set. Some of the offending jokes included female characters named Beaver’s Breath and No Bra -- and a scene where an Apache woman urinates outdoors while smoking a peace pipe.
Netflix is defending the Sandler flick, saying it's all a joke. A Netflix rep tells TMZ, "The movie has ridiculous in the title for a reason: because it is ridiculous." The rep says it's intended to be a satire of Westerns and the stereotypes popularized in the genre.
The rep adds ... the diverse cast "is not only part of -- but in on -- the joke."
This wasn't the first day of filming. In fact, Loren Anthony -- one of the pissed actors had previously tweeted how much he was enjoying the project. But after today's walk out he said, "Today work was no bueno, my native women were disrespected and i walked off set."

Perhaps someone decided the movie needed some early publicity.
Adam Sandler is no Mel Brooks.
Adam should have known that applying his sophomoric humor to Indians (sorry, Native Americans) is verboten. They can only be portrayed as Wise, Peace-Loving Stewards of the Earth and Friends to the Animals.
So Hollywierd diversifies and includes Native Americans and they quit?
I guess Hollyweird needs to go back to wholesome christian inspired and patriotic themes. That seems to be where the money is.
General Custer, Wyatt Earp, and Mark Twain?
Not as a group. Because it's not their group.
But maybe not automatically assume that everybody would be okay with some scenario you dream up. Maybe as an individual somebody would say "Enough is enough" and walk off the picture. Who can say? I'd be surprised if somebody hadn't already done that on one of Sandler's projects.
I wonder, though, if these guys had gone through with the Wild, Wild West and Lone Ranger updates, which were pretty awful.

Apparently, I also missed the point in most of his last films. I thought the point of watching a movie was entertainment. Guess I was wrong.
They preferred the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Times sure have changed.
Sandler has some conservative leanings as do a few of his regular costars. Maybe things on set got a little too honest.
If I were Sandler I would hire some of the whitest Jews I could find to play the indian roles as a bunch of casino owning drunks.
