I know sugar is bad for me, since it makes me gain weight, plus I'm on a pretty much permanent low-carb diet where it's a definite no-no. So, I avoid sugar whenever possible in candy, pastries, ice cream, etc., and also only drink diet sodas since there's a ton of sugar in regular sodas.

I also generally avoid eating or drinking anything with aspartame in it on a regular basis, since I've found if I drink/eat anything with aspartame in it regularly, over an extended period I start to get headaches and mild chest pains. Stop with the aspartame, and the problems go away. Aspartame every now & then seems OK.

After dropping aspartame 6 or 7 years ago, I switched to using sucralose (Splenda brand usually). Haven't had any problems at all, and like the taste. For instance, I get the little squirt bottles of it and use it in coffee and cole slaw. I also only drink diet soda, when I drink it at all, sweetened with sucralose. Only problem is that soda with sucralose is REALLY hard to find in my area. Almost everything available is sweetened with aspartame. One good source is the Waist Watchers brand found at Weis Markets in 2L bottles. Hopefully this Pepsi move will transition a lot of other brands & flavors too.

I don't know what to trust anymore per the press and their conflicting "health studies." All I know is that Splenda/sucralose works great for me and is much better for me health-wise than either sugar or aspartame based upon personal experience.

So once again just 5 percent of a group, Diet Pepsi drinkers, are considered in making a decision that may well result in the other 95 percent choosing to stop drinking Diet Pepsi. This change will affect the taste of Diet Pepsi and when that happens I plan to switch to some cheaper generic diet soda. The only reason I drink Diet Pepsi is I got use to it. If the taste changes I can just as easily adjust my taste to a cheaper generic brand. I figured out long ago that it’s not that one soda is that much better than its generic it is just a matter of letting your taste buds adapt and then that new soda becomes your favorite. So go ahead Pepsi. Let 5 percent rule your business and the rest of us will find something else to drink.

I bet the complainers use Gatorade to water their garden because it has electrolytes (it’s what plants crave).

I had to give up all artificial sweeteners and caffeine because of migraines. I cannot decide who’s more unhappy, me or the family!

I like the massive sugar/fake-sugar advice thrown around on here for the sodas. How about dropping soda altogether? Flavored seltzer water gives you the carbonation shock you crave and doesn’t kill you with that other crap in it.

I also recently switched to honey in my coffee instead of sugar. It took a little getting used to at first, but I really like it.

Aspartame affects the Brain - hmm - a poem there - and not in a good way.
Better to use Stevia.
Google both - lots of info.

My spouse reads nutritional health letters probably 4 days a week, for years. Could says it’s a hobby. Says aspartame bad, Stevia better.

One can wean off sweetening all drinks.
I dilute organic ‘Honest Tea’ products with water. Almost half and half now. Suit yourself.
‘ Honest splash,’ sweetened with fruit juice, ‘Honest Tea,’ and ‘Honest Ade’ available at my 99cent Store! Sometimes Big Lots, and K-Mart.

Aspartame tastes like plastic. Sucralose does not.

IMO
