Destroyed most of the old temples in Kathmandu.

Damage as far away as Bangladesh (300 miles).

Landslide from Pomori peak into climber’s base camp at Mount Everest 150 miles from epicenter. Fate of climbers on Everest where advanced base camp was being established unknown. (The valley floor between Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse is less than 1/2 mile wide.)

A friend of mine went to Katmandu years ago.

She said from the moment she landed, she felt sick as heck... for two days.

On the third day, a grisly whittled woman comes in to her room and grinds up some herbs - she boiled them in water, let them cool, and told Mel to drink them.

She did - and responded almost immediately. Totally over the altitude sickness.
